In light of Africa’s history and theology, how can we become a better partner with the African church in mission?

Well, based on what I have learned, it seems that the best thing to do is to help Africans help themselves. To do this, there are at least two things that come to mind. The first is to provide funding for education. Educational institutions need to be built and developed within Africa by Africans. In central Africa, for example, it is probably best to provide funding sources to assist in building needed infrastructure and acquiring needed supplies. In any event, this sort of support will help the internal mission effort.
The next thing is to provide materials for evangelization. I am currently assisting in efforts in the country of Malawi to acquire and distribute "Talking Bibles." These are currently being distributed by the incoming President--a staunch Christian who was mentored by South African and U.S. pastors--as he travels the country before taking office. When he goes to visit a village, he takes a Bible, preaches, roasts a goat as a token of his appreciation for God and the people, and starts a church. What an example of leadership! This truly reflects "missions in action!" This is the way I partner with the African churches: to help Africans reach each other.

Because of my experience in civil war Liberia I want to focus on ministering to the youth who are the future. It was by the Grace of God that I made it out and I feel like that same grace needs to be extended from me to the youth. This summer I will be traveling with Emmaus Mission Church to Ghana for a 10 days mission trip, which will include 3 nights of revival. After the 10 days my team will return to the states while my trip will continue to Liberia for another 3 nights of revival.
